Artist Profile
Singer/songwriter and pianist Lisa Lauren brings years of performing experience to her debut CD. She has played at some of the finest clubs in Chicago, (including the Gold Star Sardine Bar, Pop's for Champagne, Toulouse, The Metropole and Martyr's), and was also featured with her trio for the WNUA Smooth Jazz Sunday Brunch with Rick O'Deil at the Hotel Nikko Chicago from its inception. She is a published composer and arranger and has included three originals to the mix of '60s classics on the recording.
GRAMMY award-winnning veteran David Sanborn liked the project so much he agreed to play on a tune, offering his splendid alto sax in a rare acoustic setting. Internationally recognized musicians such as Blue Note recording artist, guitarist Fareed Haque and multi-instrumentalist Howard Levy (playing harmonica here) are featured along with some of Chicago's finest local talent.
The band showcases Lisa Lauren on acoustic piano and vocals accompanied by acoustic bass, drums, percussion and a myriad of great solo instruments including soprano, alto and tenor sax, viola, cello, alto flute, harmonica and guitar.
What Comes Around has been garnering some national - and now international airplay in the contemporary jazz market, as radio stations around the country - and Australia and Germany - are quickly following the lead of Austin, Washington D.C., St. Louis, Anchorage, Orlando, Kansas City, Atlanta, and Mission Viejo by adding this eclectic album to their playlist.
