Artist Profile
Jimbo Gonzalez started playing in a drum and bugle marching band for St. Agnes School, a home for boys run by the Catholic Church in Sparkill, NY. One day , in 1966, he attended a concert by Dizzy Gilespie which motivated him to further his career. He studied with Harry Berken, the lead trumpet for the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra. From 1967 to 1970, he played in the John Jay High School Dance Band performing in various schools for students. In 1972, he played in the Long Island University Orchestra. Then he joined local bands performing in weddings, dances, block parties and night clubs. That brings us to this recording of old instrumental versions of well known romantic melodies. These love songs are known all over the world. Jimbo plays them with flare and a sound which he hopes will be to your liking.
