Testimonials
"The music of this highly acclaimed Russian composer is a treat to ears young and old. Sichkin's work is soaring and vibrant, given flight by powerful dynamic oscillations and poignant chord changes. Sichkin has achieved a remarkable feat in capturing Shakespeare's artistic passion and infusing it into a grand orchestral interpretation. Fluctuating between a lyrical symphony and an astounding, organ heavy energy that rivals the acclaimed works of such musical masters as Andrew Lloyd Webber." -Riffage.com

"...romantic music in the great Russian tradition. It is simply music of the heart." -WQXR Radio

Artist Profile
Emilian B. Sichkin, a Russian born composer, grew up in an artistic family. He studied at the Gnessin School of Music and later at the Moscow Conservatory with Albert Leman. After his father was persecuted on fabricated charges, in protest the whole family immigrated to New York.
Emilian's music is deeply rooted in the Romantic tradition and is remarkably free of the avant-garde cacophony of noises and sounds so pervasive in the current classical music trends. Emilian's first published work "Concerto for Astronauts" (1986) was highly acclaimed. It was aired on WQXR and reached millions of people on the "Voice of America." The work was performed at the South Street Seaport in New York City for two consecutive years and used extensively for the ABC Television show "All My Children." In 1991 Emilian received his American debut at Carnegie Hall with the performance of "The Winds of Freedom." The performance ended with a standing ovation from the audience.
Emilian's most recent work the symphonic tragedy "Romeo and Juliet" represents a synthesis of many styles and romantic symphonies, progressive rock rhythms and harmonic heritage of Rachmaninoff. Above all, this work will haunt its listeners with the richness of melodic material. The complexity of the work, combining symphonic score with electronic instruments and live choir and soloists required enormous effort and stretched over six and half years of continues work.
Currently, Emilian is working on a ballet "Demon", based on the poem by the XIX century Russian poet Lermontoff and a symphonic suite "Snow Queen."
