Description
The show took place in March of 2004 during my first tour of Germany and Scandinavia in promotion of my 2003 studio album 'Inside', and the band had really started to gel and settle with the new material by that point. It may seem a little unusual for an artist's second release to be a live product. At the time of the release of 'Inside', I was quite surprised by the fact that a small number of blues fans found the record inaccessible - for me it is all blues, and I hope that this minority will now agree having observed the way in which we adapt the relatively laid back material from 'Inside' for live performances such as that captured on 'whilst the wind'.
Extra features on the DVD include amongst other things, bootleg footage of my six piece line-up (with a horn section) at our Christmas show in England last year, and a Jam session which took place at my home in England in January of this year with my good friend, slide guitarist Chris Eaton. We got together predominantly to play the songs of one of my heroes, Blind Willie Johnson, for an 'Artist Profile' film (also included), and I am very happy that the impromptu performance of that music has been included.
I think that overall, the complete package on 'whilst the wind' documents the many facets of who I am as an artist, and indeed to some extent who I am as a person."
