Artist Profile
Trance Lucid was formed in 1994 by guitarist Dave Halverson after the revelation that the truest, most intensified expression of his musical abilities would be brought forth through a commitment to his original instrumental music. Halverson had been dabbling in instrumental music for several years prior, initially exploring the genre through writing and recording primarily rock and experimental tunes. Gradually jazz, new age, and world music influences crept in, revolutionizing his musical approach. For the last few years, Halverson has focused on blending the most pleasing aspects of all of these different styles into something refreshing and cohesive. Trance Lucid is the culmination of this effort and the realization of a unique musical direction within the realm of instrumental music.
Trance Lucid was originally conceived as a recording project that would serve as a canvas for the expression of Halverson's more emotional instrumental repertoire. With the help of engineer and co-producer Paul Su, the artistic vision of "Arise" was carefully molded in the studio. As the CD neared completion, the scope of the project expanded to include the formation of a band with the goal of performing the material live. Longtime friend Terry Lee was added on drums, re-establishing a musical union that has worked together intermittently over the past ten years. The band was rounded out with the addition of multi-instrumentalist Scott Lowrey on bass.
