Artist Profile
Since 1987, Tangerine Dream has scored custom soundtracks for Miramar Recordings' video albums. The first, "Canyon Dreams," was a score that had to match the grandeur of the Grand Canyon. Success was achieved, the album attained multi-platinum status and a Grammy nomination.
Their next Miramar music video, "220 Volt Live," was recorded in Seattle during their 1992 tour. This video garnered three more Grammy nominations; Best Long Form Video, Best New Age Album and Best Rock Instrument for their version of Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze."
Their next video score on Miramar was "Oasis," an exploration of the mystical and unearthly beauty of the American Southwest. Once again, Tangerine Dream was more than up to the task by evoking the power of a flash flood or a thunderous desert storm.
This current release, the original score for the video: "What A Blast: Architecture In Motion," posed their most unique challenge to date. How do you underscore the awesome power of a huge building imploding in just seconds or an entire stadium demolished in less than a minute? With their rare ability to capture the texture of the visual and the ability to meld music to the picture, Tangerine Dream has constantly evolved their sound and style as you will sense on "Architecture In Motion."
