Here's an album that doesn't skimp in the originality department! JUNGLE BELLS, from master percussionist Brent Lewis, features eight Christmas carols performed using the Ikauma drums, a set of tuned drums with subtle melodic properties. In fact, this is likely one of the first holiday albums to be entirely percussive. The drums give these pieces a Caribbean sort of vibe, making the carols sound part festive and part tropical. The amazing part is how well the melodies are preserved. For example, when Lewis performs "Winter Wonderland," the melody is very recognizable despite being played on drums. Other songs on the album include "Deck the Halls" and (of course) "The Little Drummer Boy."
