"Paul Adams [many MDN titles] has been trying to get me to do a Christmas CD for several years. Between being on the road and not feeling inspired, I haven't been able to finish it. Last Christmas I wrote a little tune that sounded to me like a Christmas song. I gave it to a friend, Dave Scott, who beside being a newscaster in San Diego, is a fine trombonist/vocalist/composer. I went to Japan with Ray Charles, and when I returned Dave had written lyrics to go with my melody, that became Christmas In Your Heart. That, along with Paul's urgings, inspired me to finish the project.

"I wanted to do something different, thus the four bass trumpets on Let It Snow, the mellophone blasting, and me attempting to sing, even playing the role of all three kings. I finished the CD while on the road, where Renee Georges generously recorded some background vocal, while Paul was recording Stephanie Arrons in his studio. Paul put the beautiful final touch when he had the inspired notion to add children singing on Christmas Lullaby. I hope you like it." -Dave
