The guitar masters of the '60s and '70s influenced New York native, Chip Wilson. Included were Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. Chip majored in business administration and minored music. He also studied classical guitar during the same period.
Doodling on keyboards and experimenting with different sounds, Wilson slowly put together the pieces that would make up his debut recording (Simirillion). From the first, he says, he had in mind a specific concept to combine elements of jazz, classical, folk and pop - not as fusion - but as a form of organized free - style improvisation. Then comes his sophomore effort (of unicorns and jasmine) a lover's opera. |
