Jack Poley, born April, 1944, Oakland, California. Chemist with B.S. degrees from University of California, Berkeley and New York University. Both parents were musicians with his first exposure to music at age 4 with an accordion. Later he switched to piano, first classical, then jazz. At 19 he became enthralled with Wes Montgomery and began teaching himself guitar.
Jack was fortunate to be on the East Coast in the late '60s and throughout the '70s, where he got an opportunity to sit in with various great organists; such as Larry Young, Jack McDuff, John Patton, Charles Earland, Nita Green, Bill Harris, etc. |
